Friday Evening
We celebrated Father’s Day this year by going to Peterborough to visit everyone. Melissa couldn’t come because she had to work this year. We stayed at Peter & Julie’s. Before we left though, we had supper in the evening and then I opened the gifts from the kids and Melissa before we left. Melissa got me a really awesome t-shirt and a brand new tripod.

After Melissa went to work, I got the kids packed and we headed out at around 9:00pm. As you can imagine, the kids fell asleep about 45min into the trip and we arrived with a sleepy van full of kids at Peter & Julie’s at 11:00pm After I got the kids settled into their spots on the couch and got Marley settled into bed, I noticed a note on the counter that Peter left out for me with some very helpful advice to get the weekend started off right ๐

Saturday
Marley chewing the crate
In the morning I got up and found Marley at the top of the stairs, which was unusual since I put her in her crate before bed. I asked Julie and the kids if they had let her out and they said no. So I went downstairs and discovered that Marley had chewed a hole in the mesh door on the front of her travel crate. And this was 1 month after fixing the zipper!!! ย And that was how I started by Saturday.
Abby and I went into PetSmart and bought a new crate before heading out to visit with Mom and Dad for awhile. Julie had gone ahead with Macklan and Aiden. Once there, we hung out for awhile and played outside. The kids even got to go next door and see the chickens that the neighbours were raising.

Later in the afternoon, we went Lakefield to visit with Bruce. Bruce was good, but did look tired and was complaining of back problems that day. While there, Aiden explained to Grandpa all about the decorations inside his Principal’s office!!! The kids and I gave him our gift and then Aiden walked around with Bruce for a little while. Since it was such a beautiful day, we went to the outside gazebo at the home and sat a visited until it was time for Bruce to have his supper. We then returned to Peter and Julie’s for the evening.

In the evening, we a had a lovely bonfire and a few drinks and then went to bed.
Sunday: Father’s Day
On Sunday morning we all got up and went to the diner for breakfast. When we got there, Macklan asked me where his Mom was and I told him that she was in the bathroom. Well, when Macklan heard that she had gone without him, he became quite upset throwing an epic tantrum that gave me flashbacks of when Abby and Aiden were that age and the weird things that would make them upset. He laid on the floor outside the bathroom, screamed inside the bathroom and cried and screamed for the 5 minutes that I had him outside. I don’t think that table next to us were too impressed. After the food came and he got some food and juice into his stomach, he calmed tight down and ate his breakfast and most of Julie’s. It was a very memorable breakfast. Needless to say we left a really good tip.

Later in the afternoon, the kids and Peter and Julie had a family nap while I took Marley for a run around the neighbourhood.
When I got back, we all went to the Craig & Jane’s for a Father’s Day and Birthday dinner. After a lovely meal of ribs, we all had cake and then retired to the deck to work off the meal with a coffee.

Before dinner we also played a couple games of ladder golf. Dad and I lost a game to Craig and Peter and then the highlight match was between Peter and Susan and Mark and Craig. And as you will see in the slow motion replay below, Susan tossed the game winner to win 21-15. It was an intense battle as you can see from Peter’s celebration.
After dinner and ladder golf the kids and I hit the road and came back home.
