Jason’s Visit_Sept 2014

Visit to Mississauga

Jason arrived in from North Carolina late on Wednesday evening. He landed during quite a storm and was almost sent back to New York. However, his pilot found a small window for him to land. After landing he went to stay at Julie and Peter’s. When he got up he went and visited with mom and Dad for part of Thursday and then in the afternoon he came to our place.

He arrived here at around 4:00 just when the kids were getting home from school. Aiden came home with one of his friends from school and Abby got home a little while later. When Abby saw Jason, she talked to him for 10 min straight without even taking a breath, telling him all about school, summer vacation and anything else that would pop into her head. She was really excited to see her Uncle.

After a nice a supper of beer can chicken, Jason helped read a story to the kids, and by that I mean him and Abby made jokes about the story while I tried to read it. All in all the kids had a blast visiting with Uncle Jason.

They were particular interested in Jason’s new tattoo asking him lots of questions about the tattoo as evidenced in the video below. Abby now wants to get her own tattoo 🙂

After the kids went to bed Jason, Melissa and I had a nice visit and then everyone went to bed. In the morning, Melissa took the kids to the babysitter and then took Jason out for breakfast.

Trip to Bethany

On Saturday morning, the kids and I went to a hockey evaluation skate for Abby in the morning. Then after the practice we hit the road for Peter and Julie’s. On the way there we picked up Rob.

After arriving at Peter and Julie’s, we had a quiet afternoon visiting with everyone while getting ready for a family dinner. Now while the adults were getting ready, Abby, Aiden and Macklan found a better way to spend their time.

Aiden had gone to the garage and found a tricycle and had brought it to the top of the hill at Peter and Julie’s and spent over an hour going up the hill and then pushing each other down the hill. That is of course between fights over whose turn it was 🙂

After supper, they brought a cake out for Abby, Aiden and Jane to blow out for their birthdays. As a side note, after finishing his cake, Aiden also ate 3-4 pieces of lemon meringue pie. And after that, he was still looking for more pie 🙂

After dessert, we had a bonfire in the backyard and stayed out until it got too cold (5 degrees). We then came in and played a game of Euchre and then headed to bed.

In the morning, we all got up and hung around Peter & Julie’s for awhile just relaxing.

At mid-morning, Mom and Dad came out and we walked to breakfast at the diner.

After breakfast, we took some family pictures and then spent a quiet afternoon at Peter and Julie’s with the kids running up and down the hill a lot. The kids and I then headed back home to start our week.
