There has been a good amount of snow this year by Mississauga standards (which means snow that stays on the ground for 2 or more days consecutively). This has given us the opportunity to get out and make use of the backyard to make some snowmen. The first one of the year was made just after New Year by Abby & Aiden and myself on a Sat or Sun afternoon. It was a couple days after the first big snowfall of the year which came on Dec 26th. We had been waiting for a few days for the temperature to warm up just enough to make it pack. As soon as I could make a snowball, we were out rolling the first snowman of the year. We used a snowman kit that had been given to us by Auntie Megan when she came to visit us before Christmas. The kids had a blast and were absolutely soaked to the bone by the time they came in.

We made our second snowman of the year at the end of January after another healthy snowfall. This time though we made 2 snowmen, one made by Abby and one made by the family. We went straight into the backyard one night after school and just started playing in the snow. It was not too long after we got in the backyard before Abby had half of her snowman already made. We went into the house and got some items of clothing to decorate her snowman and then we got to work making a family snowman in the back corner of the yard.

The family snowman got finished just before dark and we found some new items to from the house to decorate this snowman. In case you can not tell, we used celery for the mouth and cherry tomatoes for the buttons. We also used the Christmas balls from the tree for earrings. Last, but not least we used one of my ball caps for his magic hat.
