In June of 2017, when Abby was in Grade 5 she qualified for the regional track & field meet against other schools in her area. She qualified for the 800m race. The nice thing about the race is that it was just down the street from my school, so I was able to attend during my lunch break and watch her race. Melissa was also able to be there because it was a day off from work. While in the video, Abby was in second last at the 350m mark of her race, she passed a lot of runners around the 500-700m portion of her race and finished in 3rd or 4th (I can’t remember which one). We were very proud of Abby and she was proud of her accomplishment as well.
