We went to our 4th annual Christmas in August and despite the rainy weather, it was an awesome trip.
We left on Thursday and headed up to North Bay early this year so that we could help set up on Friday. As you can see by the picture we had some great supervision while setting up the dining tarp.

However, it did not survive the rain on Saturday Night.
Some of the highlights from the trip

Aiden & Abby had a blast playing with the dogs all weekend. Here are some shots of them with Yogi, who is Aaron & Chantale’s dog & Logan who is Al & Joyce’s dog. After watching them this weekend, I think it is possible that we may see a dog sometime in the next couple of years.
Hanging Out With Family

We had a great time doing stuff with the family. Here are few highlights. There is Aiden who spent anytime he could on Joyce’s lap. There was Abby & Aiden wrestling with Philip while he tried to watch the Muppets with everyone else. There was the family bonfire which I will have some more pictures of down below. Spending Time at the River
Despite how rainy and chilly it was we still spent a lot of time at the river. On Friday, Abby & Aiden begged us to go swimming, so we told them that the water was cold, but they insisted so we decided to let them figuring that they would get in the water and change their mind. That was not the case with either of them especially Abby. Both of them went right in the water and Abby swam out an jumped in off the floating dock as you can see in the video down below & Aiden went in up to his waist and splashed around for a while.
After that I went paddle boating with both of the kids around the river, which was a lot of fun, especially for Aiden. However, with the wind, it quite difficult to paddle across the river for very long.
And of course, on some of the evenings there was the opportunity to see some incredible sunsets, especially on Sunday night as pictured below.

Bonfire
There was of course a great bonfire on Saturday night where the kids got to roast marshmallows and hot dogs. They also got to light some sparklers and go for a run.

The Weather
Now there isn’t much we could do about the weather, however we made the most of it, especially the kids. On Friday night, except for 20 min around 4:30, it rained for the entire night, which left us with a very wet yard. It also left to very large puddles in the back yard of Joyce’s house. And both Abby & Aiden made the most of those puddles, splashing and playing in them, coming out only to get the water dumped out of their boots.
Visit with Genny
Since we were already close to New Liskeard, we went to visit with our cousin Genny for the day on Monday. It was a lovely day that started out with us getting our van stuck in Joyce’s lawn. Fortunately we had a tow rope in the emergency kit in the van and with the assistance of Shauna’s boyfriend Peter we got the tow rope around the axel under the van. We then used Joyce’s car to pull us out. There will be a video shortly of this endeavour.

After that we hit a ton of construction on Hwy 11 on the way to New Liskeard. They were working on almost every bridge between Marten River and New Liskeard.
Once we got to New Liskeard, we had a great day. We had lunch at a place called Roosters which had a beautiful patio overlooking Lake Temiskaming. After lunch, we went for a walk along the boardwalk, and Abby & Aiden stripped down to their skivvies and went in the Lake with Melissa. However, since we did not bring our life jackets or swimming suits, they could only go into their knees. After that we continued our walk along the boardwalk and stopped for a quick picture in front of the Inukshuk that was built there in honour of the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay that went through New Liskeard. We ended off the day with a quick refresh at Genny’s apartment and then headed back to Marten River.

Visit with Grandma Rose
On the way home, we stopped into to have a visit and lunch with Grandma Rose. We had a lovely Swiss Chalet Lunch and everyone including Grandma pigged our on everything leaving very little left over. After that we had a nice little visit with Grandma, took a few pics and headed home.
