This was the first year that Melissa was home for New Year’s in several years. One of the main reasons she was home was that both of the kids begged her to take off New Year’s so that she could come to Steven & Karen’s New Year’s Eve Party. They had been begging her since she missed it last year, which was the first time that they went. So, we started by having an awesome afternoon nap as a family and then we got ready to go early in the evening. As you can see, both of the kids were ready to get partying. We left the house at around the time that the kids would normally go to bed.

When we got to there, we had time to take a few family glam shots, before the party started. It was shortly after that, that the first guests started arriving. Over the course of the evening, there were at least between 75 and 100 people that came to the party. The night itself was nice enough that we could spend a little time out on the deck during the party, which was nice because it got quite hot in their house with that many people in there.

Now the picture I took with the kids sitting in the chair together is the chair that is in Steven & Karen’s kitchen. I took a picture last year of the two of them sitting in the same chair. However, this year the two of them barely fit in the chair and only stayed in it long enough to take the picture and eat a couple of sweets.
For the rest of the evening, they sat on different chairs and ate their own snacks. We also bought them some Italian Soda, which we call New Year’s Wine. After the kids got there snacks they spent the remainder of the evening upstairs watching movies with Oren and his friend Nicholas.
We brought them down a couple of times to dance and eat some snacks, but they were not into partying the same way they were last year. I think they were tired from all of the Christmas Festivities at the Grandparents.

They were excited to come down and ring in the New Year, but we kind of missed hearing the countdown with all the noise in the house. However the family was still all together to ring in the New Year for the first time since 2008, which made it absolutely awesome.
The kids crashed at around 1:00am and we headed to bed at around 3:00am. We all slept together on their pullout which was definitely a tight squeeze, but it was nice to have the kids all snuggled in with us.

The next morning we all got up and snacked on some of the leftover food and headed back home, but not before taking a quick pic of the bottles cleaned up and put on the porch for a return to the LCBO.
